Madoka NISHIURA is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Tokyo. Based on her anthropological field research in Bengkala village in Bali, Indonesia, she studies creative interactions in sign languages and dance from the perspective of semiotic anthropology, Deaf studies, anthropology of music, and play theories.
