Sonya Fix received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from New York University. Her sociolinguistic research focuses on the racial, ethnic, and regional variation in American English, second dialect acquisition, intersections of language, gender, and race, and language, identity and subjectivity. She has spent her career teaching linguistics, ESL, TESOL methods, and critical theory to diverse post-secondary, undergraduate, and graduate populations.
