Andrew Barke is a professor and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Foreign Language Studies and Graduate School of Foreign Language Education and Research at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan. He teaches English and Japanese related courses and his research interests lie in the areas of Japanese identity construction and the improvement of pragmatic competence among learners of Japanese.
