Yecid Ortega is an Assistant Professor at Queen's University Belfast (Northern Ireland, UK). He finished his doctoral studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), the University of Toronto in Language and Literacies Education with a specialization in Comparative, International, and Development Education. His major research interests draw from ethnographic approaches, multimodal, and critical research in education. He explores how social justice juxtaposes with concepts of culture, race, linguistics, human rights, diversity, and equity in different national and international teacher education programs. His most recent interest is captured in reflections on understanding how language, semiotics, and lived experiences intersect.
