Shaila Shams is a PhD candidate in the Languages, Cultures and Literacies program in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, Canada. Her doctoral research explores the language learning experiences of the Bangladeshi Muslim migrants in Canada and how their minority ethnolinguistic and religious identities intersect with their language learning and in turn, shape their settlement trajectory.
