Bernadette O’Rourke is Professor of Sociolinguistics and Hispanic Studies in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on the dynamics of multilingual societies, language policy and minority language sociolinguistics. She was previously Chair of a European COST Action on New Speakers in a Multilingual Europe. She is the author of Galician and Irish in the European Context (Palgrave), and co-author of New speakers of Irish in a Global Context (Routledge) and The Palgrave Handbook of Minority Languages and Communities.
