Chun-Mei Chen is Professor of Linguistics and Chair in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan. She received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin and has researched and published on Austronesian languages spoken in Taiwan and teaching Chinese as a second language. For more than a decade, she has been working on Indigenous language documentation in Taiwan, including a documentation project on the Paiwan language from 2008 to 2010, Indigenous languages spoken in multilingual urban communities from 2015 to 2018, followed by a sociolinguistic project on Indigenous post-disaster reconstruction communities from 2020 to 2023. She has published book chapters with Mouton de Gruyter and Bloomsbury Academic, and articles in journals including Multilingua, Language and Linguistics, Concentric: Studies in Linguistics, and Journal of Chinese Language Teaching, among others.
