Human language technology adopted in tertiary education in Taiwan (20083)
The Taiwan 2030 Global Bilingual Policy is actively advocated by the Taiwanese government within the realm of tertiary education. Nonetheless, it is imperative to acknowledge that not all students have attained a requisite level of proficiency in the English language. The inconsiderate employment of English as the medium of instruction may yield unforeseen repercussions. Hence, the primary objective of this proposition is to leverage human language technology tools for the purpose of displaying subtitles or providing real-time translations of the instructor's oral discourse during lectures. This endeavor is aimed at augmenting students' comprehension of content delivered in the English language. Anticipated outcomes encompass an augmented inclination towards learning, a more profound grasp of the subject matter, and enhanced academic performance among the student body.
